Sticky-notes pads, 3"x3" 25 sheet pad. 5 pad pack Trying to get someone to do you a favor? Here's a trick that'll help: Use a post-it note!
According to Psychology Today, a study found that when volunteers were asked to fill out a survey, they were more likely to do it and give more detailed answers - if it included a hand-written sticky note. But writing a note on the survey cover page itself wasn't as persuasive.
So what's behind the post-it magic? Randy Garner, a psychology professor at Sam Houston University in Texas, says a post-it note is perceived as a request for a personal favor, even between strangers. If you draw a big smiley face next to your message, it's more likely that the person will want to help. That's because a happy face appeals to people's good-nature.
So, the next time you need your colleague or your spouse to do you a favor, leave them a smiley-faced sticky note! You're more likely to get what you want.
